CPS Foundation Board Members Welcome Back Teachers

In an initiative to support educators as they prepare for the new school year, the CPS Foundation has distributed welcome back school supply kits to teachers across the district. The kits, which contain essential classroom supplies and resources, were delivered to over 200 teachers this week.

The CPS Foundation, known for its commitment to enhancing educational experiences, purchased the kits to ease the burden on teachers and ensure they have the tools needed for a successful year. Each kit includes items such as pens, pencils, dry erase markers, whiteout and erasers, all selected to help teachers be able to support an engaging and effective learning environments.

“We are thrilled to provide these kits as a small token of appreciation for the incredible work our teachers do,” said Morgan Kapels, CPS Foundation Board Member. “It is a small gesture that creates a big impact in the classroom for both teachers and students.”

CPS Board Members Bob Markham and Morgan Kapels visited each school and were were met with enthusiasm from teachers, who expressed gratitude for the thoughtful gesture. Many educators noted that the kits would help to reduce their out-of-pocket expenses for classroom supplies.  "It was very gratifying to be able to help the teachers get their year started off on a positive note.  They were all very appreciative and it was a great experience to get to meet with all of the teachers in their classrooms.  This is something that I hope we can continue to do every year," said Bob Markham, CPS Foundation board president.

The CPS Foundation’s initiative underscores its ongoing dedication to supporting education and fostering positive learning experiences for both teachers and students. As the school year kicks off, this generous act serves as a reminder of the community’s commitment to educational excellence.
